Texcaltitlán is a town and municipality located in the State of Mexico within the country of Mexico. It is situated on the high plains approximately 65 kilometers south of Toluca, positioned near the Nevado de Toluca volcano.
The name Texcaltitlán is derived from the Nahuatl language. It combines the words "texcalli," meaning rock, and "titla," meaning among, resulting in the literal translation of "among rocks."
