Tejupilco de Hidalgo is a city located in the State of Mexico, serving as the seat of the Tejupilco Municipality. It is situated approximately 100 kilometres (62 mi) southwest of Toluca, the state capital, along Federal Highway 34.
The name Tejupilco originates from the Náhuatl language and translates to "between the toes." The suffix "de Hidalgo" was appended to the city's name to honor Father Miguel Hidalgo, who initiated the Mexican War of Independence.
