Huixquilucan Municipality is a municipality located in the State of Mexico, Mexico. It is situated adjacent to the west side of the Federal District and is considered part of Greater Mexico City, though it remains an independent entity from Mexico City itself.
The name Huixquilucan originates from the Nahuatl language and translates to "place full of edible thistles."
