Cuautitlán Izcalli is a city and one of the 125 municipalities located within the State of Mexico. The city serves as its own municipal seat and is situated in the Valley of Mexico area, forming part of the Metropolitan area of Mexico City.
The municipality shares borders with several surrounding regions. It is bordered by Tepotzotlán to the north and northwest, Cuautitlán to the northeast and east, Tlalnepantla de Baz to the south, Tultitlán to the southeast, Atizapán de Zaragoza to the southwest, and Nicolás Romero to the west.
