Coacalco de Berriozábal is one of 125 municipalities located in the State of Mexico, a region within Mexico. The municipality is situated north of Mexico City as part of the Greater Mexico City conurbation.
The municipal seat of Coacalco de Berriozábal is the city of San Francisco Coacalco. The municipality derives its name from Felipe Berriozábal, who was a Mexican military leader and politician who lived from 1829 to 1900.
