Ciudad López Mateos is a city located in the State of Mexico. It serves as the municipal seat of Atizapán de Zaragoza and currently ranks as the seventh-largest city within the state. According to the 2010 census, the city had a population of 489,160 inhabitants.
The city was originally named San Francisco Atizapán before its official name was changed to honor President Adolfo López Mateos, who was born in the town. Despite this official designation, the city is still commonly referred to by its former name, Atizapán. Notable local landmarks include the upscale neighborhood known as Zona Esmeralda.
