Apaxco is a municipality situated in the Zumpango Region of Mexico. Its municipal territory is positioned at a southern pass that leads out of the Mezquital Valley, located approximately 288 km (179 mi) northeast of Toluca, the state capital.
The name of the municipality originates from Nahuatl. It serves as a geographical point within the regional landscape of the State of Mexico.
