San Juan de los Lagos is a city and municipality situated in the northeast corner of the state of Jalisco, Mexico. It is located within a region commonly referred to as Los Altos.
The city is primarily recognized as the home of Our Lady of San Juan de los Lagos, which is a small image of the Virgin Mary. Since 1632, various miracles have been attributed to the figure, establishing the Basilica of San Juan de los Lagos as a significant religious site and major tourist attraction.
The local economy remains heavily dependent on the influx of pilgrims visiting the shrine. This annual flow of visitors typically ranges between seven and nine million people per year.
