Mixtlán is a town and municipality located in the state of Jalisco in central-western Mexico. The municipality encompasses a total area of 631 square kilometres (244 sq mi).
The region officially became a municipality on October 20, 1938. In its native Náhuatl language, the name Mixtlán translates to "place of clouds."
