Ixtlahuacán del Río is a town and municipality located in the central region of the Mexican state of Jalisco. It is situated approximately 50 kilometres, or about 31 miles, from the state capital of Guadalajara.
The area sits at an elevation of 1,655 metres (5,430 ft) above sea level. The local climate is classified as semi-arid, characterized by mild winters and an average annual temperature of 19 °C (66 °F).
