El Grullo is a town and municipality located in the state of Jalisco in central-western Mexico. The municipality encompasses a total area of 157.2 km2.
The settlement derives its name from "grullo," a specific color used to describe grass and horses. This term was originally used as part of the name for a local hacienda known as "La Hacienda del Zacate Grullo."
