Colotlán is a municipality situated in the northern extremity of the Mexican state of Jalisco. It covers a total area of approximately 648 square kilometers and is located at the geographic coordinates 22°12′N 103°18′W.
The region stands at an elevation of 1,550 metres (5,090 ft) above sea level. It serves as a primary geographical point within its northern regional context in Jalisco.
