Jaral del Progreso is a city and municipality located in the Bajío region of the Mexican state of Guanajuato. It covers an area of 174.37 square kilometres (67.32 sq mi), which represents approximately 0.57% of the state's total surface area. The municipality is bordered by Salamanca to the north, Cortazar to the northeast, Salvatierra to the southeast, Yuriria to the south, and Valle de Santiago to the west.

The local economy is primarily based on agriculture and ranching, similar to many of its neighboring municipalities. According to the 2005 census, Jaral del Progreso had a total population of 14,906 inhabitants. The municipal president overseeing the city and its outlying communities is Alfonso Borja Pimentel.
