San Francisco del Mezquital is a city located in the state of Durango in northwestern Mexico. It serves as the seat of the Municipality of Mezquital and is situated on the San Pedro Mezquital River in the northeast portion of the municipality, near the boundary with the Municipality of Suchil.
As of 2010, the town had a population of 1,742 residents. It functions as the primary administrative center for its surrounding municipal region.
