Venustiano Carranza is a city located in the Mexico City region of Mexico. It serves as a local municipality within the country's central geographic area.
The location is named after José Venustiano Carranza de la Garza, a prominent Mexican landowner, revolutionary, and politician who served as the 44th President of Mexico from 1917 until his assassination in 1920. Carranza was a key figure during the Mexican Revolution, serving as the governor for Coahuila and as the de facto head of state as Primer Jefe of the Constitutionalist faction from 1914 to 1917.
Carranza is historically significant for playing a leading role in drafting the Constitution of 1917. During his tenure, he also maintained Mexican neutrality during World War I.
