Tlalpan is a borough located in Mexico City, Mexico. Established in 1928, it was named after the area's most significant settlement, also known as Tlalpan center, which serves to distinguish the specific town from the larger administrative borough.
The borough is characterized by its vast size and ecological significance, as over 80% of its territory is designated under conservation as forest and other ecologically sensitive areas. The remaining portion of the borough is situated primarily along the northern edge and has been predominantly urbanized since the mid-20th century.
