Milpa Alta is a borough located in the southeast corner of Mexico City. It shares borders with both the State of Mexico and Morelos. Among the various districts that make up the nation's capital, it is characterized as the second largest and least populated borough.
The area is noted for being one of the most traditional regions within the city, hosting over 700 religious and secular festivals annually. Its economy is primarily rooted in agriculture and food processing, with a specific focus on the production of mole sauce, barbacoa, and nopal cactus.
