Castaños is a city located in the northern Mexican state of Coahuila. It is situated within the central region of the state (Región Centro) and serves as a location within the Castaños Municipality at coordinates 26° 47' 3" North and 101° 25' 58" West.
The settlement history of the city dates back to 1582, when it was first settled by Luis de Carvajal y de la Cueva and Gaspar Castaño de Sosa. The town was officially founded on November 22, 1674.
