Venustiano Carranza is a city located in Mexico. It is named after José Venustiano Carranza de la Garza, a prominent Mexican landowner, revolutionary, and politician who served as the 44th President of Mexico from 1917 until his assassination in 1920.
Carranza was a significant figure during the Mexican Revolution, serving as the de facto head of state as Primer Jefe of the Constitutionalist faction from 1914 to 1917. His political career also included service as a senator and governor for Coahuila. He is notably recognized for playing a leading role in drafting the Constitution of 1917 and for maintaining Mexican neutrality during World War I.
