Amatenango de la Frontera is a town and municipality located in the state of Chiapas in southern Mexico. The region serves as part of the international border between Mexico and Guatemala.
The municipality covers a total area of 171.4 square kilometers. It is situated within the mountainous terrain characteristic of the southern Mexican highlands near the Guatemalan frontier.
