Vulcănești is a city and district located within the Gagauz Autonomous Territorial Unit of the Republic of Moldova. It serves as an administrative center for its namesake district, which functions as the southern exclave of Gagauzia.
The geography of the Vulcănești district is defined by its position bordering the Cahul District of Moldova to the north and the Odesa Oblast of Ukraine to the south. Additionally, the city administers a village-rail station that shares the same name as the urban center.
