Edineț is a municipality located in northern Moldova. It serves as the administrative center of the Edineț district and is situated approximately 201 km north of the national capital, Chișinău. The town is positioned at the geographic coordinates 48°10′N 27°19′E.
The municipality administers two suburban villages, Alexăndreni and Gordineștii Noi. According to the 2004 census, the total population of the area was 17,292 inhabitants, with 15,624 residents living within the town itself.
