Tuz Khurmatu is the central city of the Tooz District, situated in the Saladin Governorate of Iraq. It is located approximately 55 miles (89 km) south of the city of Kirkuk.
The city is characterized by its diverse demographic makeup. Its inhabitants are predominantly Shia Turkmen, with a minority population consisting of Arabs and Sunni Kurds.
