Sinjar is a town situated within the Sinjar District of the Nineveh Governorate in northern Iraq. It is geographically positioned approximately five kilometers south of the Sinjar Mountains.
The town has a population that was estimated at 88,023 in 2013 and is predominantly inhabited by the Yazidi people.
