Al-Hindiya, also known as Hindiya, is a city located in Iraq along the Euphrates River. It serves as the administrative seat of the Al-Hindiya District within the Karbala Governorate.
The city was formerly known as Tuwairij. This historical name persists in local tradition through the "Tuwairij run," an annual event held during the Mourning of Muharram on the Day of Ashura. The city has a population of approximately 84,100 citizens.
