Makhmur is a town located in the Makhmur District of Iraq's Nineveh Governorate. It occupies a strategic position within the region, situated approximately 60 kilometers southwest of Erbil.
The town is also positioned roughly 80 kilometers northeast of Kirkuk and 80 kilometers southeast of Mosul.
