Al-Shatrah is a town located in southern Iraq within the Dhi Qar Governorate. It serves as the administrative capital of the Al-Shatra District and is situated north of Nasiriyah.
The town is positioned along the Gharraf Canal at its intersection with Highway 7. Geographically, it lies approximately 22.35 km west of the ancient city of Lagash. As of 2009, the population of Al-Shatrah was estimated to be 254,000.
