Simele, also known as Semel, is a town situated in the Dohuk province of the Kurdistan Region in Iraq. It is located approximately 14 km (8.7 mi) west of the city of Dohuk.
The town serves as a strategic point on the main road connecting the Kurdistan Region to neighboring Turkey. As of July 2018, Simele had a recorded population of 71,557 residents.
