Punata

Bolivia

Punata is a city located in the Cochabamba Department of Bolivia. It serves as the capital of both the Punata Province and the Punata Municipality.

The city experienced significant population growth between census periods, rising from 19,559 inhabitants in 2012 to 28,707 by the following census. Residents of Punata and its surrounding areas have historically been referred to as "Vallunos," a term denoting their origin from the valleys of the region.

Punata is well known for its agricultural market held every Tuesday. This market serves as a central hub where people from various rural villages and nearby towns gather to trade goods.
