Getting Around Tay Ninh
Tay Ninh city is compact and easy to navigate. Most of the activity is concentrated around two main streets, Cach Mang Thang Tam and 30 Thang 4, where you'll find the majority of government buildings, banks, and businesses. At the intersection of these two streets sits the Tay Ninh roundabout, which serves as the centre of the city and a useful landmark for orienting yourself. The Cao Dai Holy See, the city's most famous sight, is a short distance from the roundabout — roughly 3 km — making it reachable by a quick taxi or motorbike ride.
Rail, Metro and Trams
There is no rail, metro, or tram network serving Tay Ninh. Visitors should not expect to reach the city or move around it by train. Ground transport is the only option.
Buses and Public Transport
Buses connect Tay Ninh to the wider region, including Ho Chi Minh City and Cu Chi. From Cu Chi, you can reach Tay Ninh by Bus 702, or take Bus 701 to Gau Dai and then transfer to Bus 4 on to Tay Ninh. Minibuses also run frequently from An Suong Bus Station in Hoc Mon, Ho Chi Minh City, departing about every 15 minutes and arriving at Tay Ninh Bus Station. Tickets are bought on board, and fares are inexpensive.
Within Tay Ninh city itself, there is no meaningful local bus network described for visitors. Practical movement around town relies on taxis and motorbike taxis rather than public transport.
Taxis and Ride-Hailing
Taxis are the simplest way to get around Tay Ninh city, and short rides are cheap. Mai Linh taxi operates in the area. "Xe om" motorbike taxis are also widely available and can be found at most intersections — a convenient and low-cost option for short hops, such as the trip between the city centre and the Cao Dai Holy See.
For longer journeys, a chartered taxi is a viable choice. An all-day return trip from Ho Chi Minh City to Tay Ninh and Cu Chi can be arranged by finding any taxi and negotiating a round-trip price.
Walkability
The city centre is compact enough that the core area around Cach Mang Thang Tam, 30 Thang 4, and the Tay Ninh roundabout is manageable on foot. However, the Cao Dai Holy See sits about 3 km from the roundabout, which is a longer walk than most visitors will want in the heat — a taxi or xe om is the practical choice for that trip.
Getting There from Ho Chi Minh City
Tay Ninh has no airport of its own; the main gateway for international visitors is Ho Chi Minh City, from which Tay Ninh lies to the southeast. Several ground options connect the two:
- Tour buses: Run daily from Ho Chi Minh City and usually include a stop at Cu Chi to see the Cu Chi Tunnels.
- Minibuses: Depart frequently from An Suong Bus Station in Hoc Mon, Ho Chi Minh City, and arrive at Tay Ninh Bus Station.
- Public buses via Cu Chi: Take Bus 702 from Cu Chi, or Bus 701 to Gau Dai followed by Bus 4 to Tay Ninh.
- Chartered taxi: Negotiate an all-day return trip from Ho Chi Minh City covering both Tay Ninh and Cu Chi.
Whichever option you choose, tickets are purchased directly — on board for buses and minibuses, or by agreeing a price with the driver for a taxi. From Ho Chi Minh City's airport, you would first make your way into the city and pick up one of these services, or arrange a taxi transfer, since no direct airport-to-Tay Ninh public transport link is described.
