Getting Around Bao Loc

Bao Loc is a city in Lam Dong Province, in Vietnam's Central Highlands, and it's best known as the home of B'lao tea. The city's central wards are Ward I, Ward II, and B'Lao Ward, which was the old district capital town. For a visitor, the practical geography is simple: the core of town is compact and walkable in parts, while the wider city spreads out into surrounding wards and communes. Older landmarks such as the Bat Nha Temple and the small Ho Dong Nai lake sit in the central part of town, so much of what you'll want to see is concentrated in the same area.

Rail, Metro and Trams

Bao Loc has no rail, metro, or tram network. There is no train station or urban rail service to plan around, so you should not expect to arrive or move around the city by rail. Any long-distance travel to or from Bao Loc will be by road or air.

Buses and Public Transport

Bao Loc does not have a documented public bus or urban transit network that a visitor can rely on. In practice, this means you should plan to cover local trips by taxi, ride-hailing, or on foot rather than by scheduled public transport. If you want to reach Bao Loc from elsewhere in the region, long-distance coach services are the usual road option, but you should confirm schedules and pickup points locally, as the city itself has no formal urban bus system to fall back on.

Taxis and Ride-Hailing

With no rail or public bus network in the city, taxis and ride-hailing apps are the most practical way to cover longer or less walkable stretches of Bao Loc. This is especially useful for reaching the outer wards and communes, which are spread across a much larger area than the central wards. Because the city has no ticketing or pass system for public transport, you'll pay per trip for taxis and ride-hailing rather than buying a travel card.

Walking

Walking works well in the central part of Bao Loc. The central wards — Ward I, Ward II, and B'Lao Ward — contain the older buildings and the small Ho Dong Nai lake, so you can reasonably explore the town core on foot. Beyond the center, the city becomes much more spread out, with wards and communes covering large areas, so walking is less practical for reaching the outskirts and you'll want a vehicle for those trips.

Getting There from the Airport

Air travel to Bao Loc is provided by Lien Khuong International Airport, which serves Da Lat and lies roughly 81 km (50 mi) east of the city. There is no rail link from the airport to Bao Loc, so the onward journey is by road. Plan on arranging a taxi, ride-hailing car, or a long-distance road transfer from the airport to reach the city, and allow for a substantial drive given the distance involved.
