Getting around Xizhi

Xizhi sits in the Keelung River valley between Taipei City and Keelung City, and that position has made it an important transportation corridor in northern Taiwan. For a visitor, the practical upshot is simple: Xizhi is well connected along a north–south axis, and most trips begin at a train station or on a bus.

Rail: the backbone of local travel

The Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) network is the main way visitors move in and out of Xizhi. Three TRA stations serve the district, and all of them are oriented toward local, commuter-style service rather than long-distance expresses:

Because these stations handle local services, they are best thought of as stops on the Taipei–Keelung corridor rather than gateways for reserved-seat intercity travel. If you are heading further afield, plan to connect through a larger station.

Metro and tram: planned, not yet available

As of the source material, Xizhi does not yet have metro service. A Taipei Metro route and the MRT Keelung Line are planned for the district, and the planned stations include Metro Taipei Zhangshuwan, Xizhi Tech. Park and Xizhi stations, plus MRT Keelung Line stations at Nanyang Brdg., Jiadongjiao and Baozhangkeng. A Minsheng–Xizhi line is also listed as planned. Until these open, do not count on the metro as a way to reach or move around Xizhi — use the TRA instead.

Buses and other public transport

The source material does not describe Xizhi's local bus network in detail, so the safest guidance is to treat buses as a complement to the rail corridor rather than a documented standalone system. In practice, this means using the TRA stations as your anchors and checking locally for bus connections onward from there. The district's location on a major transportation corridor between Taipei and Keelung means surface transport options exist, but specifics should be confirmed on arrival.

Taxis and ride-hailing

The reference material contains no information on taxis or ride-hailing in Xizhi, so no specific claims can be made about availability, apps or fares. As a general matter for a visitor, taxis are a reasonable fallback for short trips that the rail network does not cover directly, particularly around the commercial and business areas.

Walkability

Xizhi is a populated inner-city district rather than a sprawling rural area, and its central areas — including the zone around Farglory U-Town, described as one of the most convenient and centralized areas of the district — are built up with shops, hypermarkets and offices. That makes walking practical for local errands and for reaching nearby amenities once you have arrived by train. The source material does not provide a street-by-street walkability assessment, so plan on walking for short, local trips and using rail for anything longer.

Getting from the airport into the city

The provided source material does not cover airport transfers to Xizhi. What it does establish is the structure you would plug into: Xizhi is connected to the TRA network through Wudu, Xizhi and Xike stations, and it lies on the corridor between Taipei City and Keelung City. A visitor arriving by air should therefore expect to reach Taipei or Keelung first and then continue to Xizhi by TRA local train, rather than finding a direct airport link into the district. Confirm current airport-to-rail connections locally, as the source material does not document them.
