Getting Around Kabin Buri
Kabin Buri is a district in the southeastern part of Prachinburi province in eastern Thailand, and it sits at the meeting point of several important rivers and highways. For a visitor, the practical reality is that this is a car-oriented, small-city environment rather than a place with an extensive public transport network. The guidance below explains what options exist and how they connect.
How Tourists Move Around the City
Kabin Buri has no metro, tram, or light rail system, and no local rail network of its own. Movement around the district is primarily by road. The district is served by three major highways that shape how you get in and out:
- Highway 304 passes through Kabin Buri from Nonthaburi to Korat.
- Highway 33 passes through the north side of Kabin Buri from Saraburi to Aranyaprathet.
- Highway 359 passes through the south side of the district, connecting Highways 304 to 33 and Highway 317.
Because these highways carry through-traffic rather than serving as a local transit grid, most visitors get around by taxi, ride-hailing, or private vehicle.
Rail, Metro, and Tram
There is no metro or tram service in Kabin Buri, and no railway station serving the district itself. Rail enters the picture only as part of a longer journey: the State Railway of Thailand operates trains that can bring you part of the way from the Bangkok area toward the region, after which you continue by road. If you are planning a rail-assisted trip, the State Railway of Thailand can be reached on 1690 or via railway.co.th.
Buses and Other Public Transport
There is no direct public transport connection between Bangkok and Kabin Buri; all routes require transfers or a private vehicle. The most practical car-free approach is a bus-and-taxi combination:
- Take a bus from Bangkok Bus Terminal Eakamai (Ekamai) to Chachoengsao (roughly an hour, with hourly departures).
- Continue by bus from Chachoengsao to Prachinburi.
- Finish with a taxi from Prachinburi to Kabin Buri.
One bus operator listed for the Ekamai–Chachoengsao leg is Suvarnabhumi Airport Bus. Expect the whole car-free journey to take the better part of a day, so plan to arrive in daylight if possible.
Taxis and Ride-Hailing
Taxis are the flexible backbone of getting around and reaching Kabin Buri. Operators serving the area include All New Taxi, All Thai Taxi, GoodTaxiThai, Grab Taxi, and Tom Taxi Services. Grab is the ride-hailing option to look for. A direct taxi from Bangkok to Kabin Buri is the fastest door-to-door choice, taking roughly two and a half hours by road.
For a rail-assisted route, you can take a State Railway of Thailand train from Lat Krabang to Paet Riu (once daily), then continue by taxi from Paet Riu to Kabin Buri. Fares vary by class.
Walkability
Kabin Buri is a district spread across 14 sub-districts and 192 villages, with three townships — Kabin, Mueang Kao, and Sa Bua — covering parts of the central tambons. That layout, plus the highway traffic passing through, means walking is realistic for short local trips within a township but not for getting between towns or reaching the district from elsewhere. For anything beyond a short stroll, arrange a taxi or ride-hailing car.
Getting from the Airport into the City
There is no direct airport-to-Kabin Buri public transport link. The workable options are:
- Bus and taxi via Chachoengsao and Prachinburi: start from Bangkok Bus Terminal Eakamai, change buses at Chachoengsao and again at Prachinburi, then take a taxi for the final leg into Kabin Buri. The Suvarnabhumi Airport Bus is one operator listed on the first leg.
- Train and taxi: take a State Railway of Thailand train from Lat Krabang to Paet Riu, then a taxi onward to Kabin Buri.
- Direct taxi: the simplest option if budget allows — a taxi straight from Bangkok to Kabin Buri takes about two and a half hours by road.
Whichever route you choose, expect at least one transfer, and book or confirm your final taxi leg in advance where you can.
Where to Stay
Kabin Buri District has a good range of accommodation, with more than a dozen hotels listed in the area, so you can base yourself in the district and arrange local taxis for day-to-day movement.
