Getting Around Queluz

Queluz is a city in the municipality of Sintra, just outside Lisbon, and it is best known to visitors for the Queluz National Palace. The good news for travellers is that Queluz sits on well-established rail and bus corridors, so you can reach it easily from Lisbon and get between its stations and sights on foot.

Arriving by Road

If you are coming by car, the IC 19 connects Lisbon with Sintra and passes by Queluz, making it the natural approach route from the capital.

Rail Connections

Queluz is served by several railway stations, and two of them are the most useful for travellers: Queluz-Belas and Monte Abraão. Both sit on the Lisbon–Sintra line, with trains running roughly every fifteen minutes or so.

From Lisbon, the simplest approach is to catch a train from Rossio station. The journey takes about fifteen minutes and costs around €1.20, which makes the train an easy and inexpensive way to reach Queluz.

Buses and Regional Public Transport

Frequent bus lines operated by Vimeca serve Queluz. These buses connect the city to Lisbon, Oeiras, Amadora, Carcavelos and other destinations in the region, so they are a practical option if your starting point is not directly on the rail line.

Walking Around

Once you arrive, Queluz is manageable on foot. It is about a fifteen-minute walk from either of the recommended train stations — Queluz-Belas or Monte Abraão — to the palace, so you can comfortably combine a train trip with a walk to the main sight.
