Getting Around Ijok
Ijok is a small mukim (sub-district) in the Kuala Selangor District of Selangor, Malaysia, sitting along Federal Route 54 at a junction that leads toward the larger town of Bestari Jaya (Batang Berjuntai). Pekan Ijok itself is often described as a "cowboy town" — a main street lined with shops and small buildings on both sides. It is a compact, low-key settlement rather than a city, so getting around locally is simple and mostly done on foot or by car, while longer journeys out of town rely on buses and trains from nearby hubs.
Local Movement and Walkability
Within Pekan Ijok, the practical way to get around is on foot. The town centres on its main street, with shops and small buildings on both sides, so the core is easy to cover by walking. Beyond the town centre, the surrounding area is rural — smallholdings, vegetable farms and former rubber plantation land — and is not designed for pedestrians, so you will need a vehicle for anything outside the main street.
If you are relying on public transport, note that the nearest bus stop to Ijok is Caledonia Avenue (Opp), which is roughly a 15-minute walk away. Plan for that walk when connecting to buses.
Rail, Metro and Tram
Ijok itself has no rail, metro or tram station. The nearest rail connection is at MRT Sungai Buloh, which serves as the key interchange for onward travel toward Kuala Lumpur. From there you have several options:
- KTM Komuter train from Sungai Buloh into Kuala Lumpur — a straightforward rail connection.
- Port Klang Line tram service from Sungai Buloh to Kuala Lumpur, an alternative rail-based route.
- MRT and LRT services operate across the wider Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Selangor area, alongside monorail, ferry and cable car services, run by operators including rapidKL, MRT Feeder Bus (RapidKL), Smart Selangor Bus and KTM.
For the fastest transit option into Kuala Lumpur, take a taxi from Kampong Ijok to Kuang, then catch the KTM Komuter train from Kuang to Kuala Lumpur. The KTM Komuter network is operated by KTMB.
Buses and Public Transport
The main bus route serving Ijok is T155, an MRT Feeder Bus (Rapid KL) service. It connects the Ijok area with MRT Sungai Buloh, which is the gateway to the rail network. The route runs between Pinewood Court and MRT Sungai Buloh, and also serves Perumahan Kota Puteri 8 and Kuarters Depot Simpanan Pertahanan.
- T155 buses run roughly every 30 minutes.
- First bus nearby is around 6:23 AM and the last is around 10:40 PM.
- There is no direct bus between Kampong Ijok and Kuala Lumpur — every bus option requires at least one transfer.
To reach Kuala Lumpur by bus, one common combination is to take T155 from Perumahan Kota Puteri 8 to Kuarters Depot Simpanan Pertahanan, then transfer to bus 100 from The Store Sungai Buloh to Hub Lebuh Pudu in Kuala Lumpur. Alternatively, take T155 to MRT Sungai Buloh and continue by train.

Getting from the Airport into the City
