Getting Around Bender

Bender is a compact city, and the practical advice for visitors is simple: you can explore it easily on foot. For anything beyond the centre, buses and marshrutkas (shared minibuses) fill the gaps, and taxis are available for direct trips.

On Foot

Walking is the most straightforward way to see Bender. The city is small enough that its main sights can be covered on foot, so you can plan your day around strolling rather than hunting for transport. Comfortable shoes and a bit of time are all you really need.

Buses and Marshrutkas

Buses and marshrutkas are the main public transport options in and around Bender. They are frequent and stop in the city en route from Chișinău, Căușeni and Tiraspol, which makes them useful both for getting around town and for arriving from elsewhere in the region.

Trains

Bender has a rail station, Bender 2, but rail service is limited. Trains used to run from Bender 2 to Chișinău, Odesa and even Moscow before the war in Ukraine started. If you are hoping to arrive or depart by train, check the current situation locally before relying on it.

Taxis and Ride-Hailing

Taxis are a convenient option for point-to-point trips, particularly if you are carrying luggage or travelling outside the walkable centre. As with any city, agree on the fare or confirm the meter before you set off.

Getting In from the Airport

Bender does not have its own commercial airport serving the city. The practical approach is to arrive via the nearest major gateway and continue overland. Buses and marshrutkas run frequently into Bender from Chișinău and Tiraspol, so those are the natural connections to look for when planning your onward journey.
