Getting Around Turin
Turin has an integrated public transport system operated by GTT, combining buses, trams, and metro. Services run from 06:00 to 00:30, with night buses operating from Piazza Vittorio Veneto for late-night travel. The city is also quite walkable, with many attractions within reasonable distances of the city centre.
Tickets and Payment
You must purchase and validate your ticket before boarding any public transport. Tickets are available from tabaccherie (tobacconists), some bars, kiosks at stations, and vending machines at metro stations.
The standard option is the "City + Suburban 100" ticket, valid for 100 minutes of unlimited bus travel plus one metro journey. Various durations are available:
- Single journey ticket (100 mins): €2
- Daily ticket: €4.50
- 48-hour ticket: €9.50
- 72-hour ticket: €12.50
If you're buying a Turin + Piemonte Card (which includes attractions), some transport fares are discounted. Longer season tickets require photo ID.
Metro and Rail Network
Turin's metro provides rapid transit across the city. The system connects major destinations including both primary railway stations, Porta Nuova and Porta Susa.
For longer journeys within the region, the city has three main railway stations serving regional and intercity trains. Porta Nuova is the primary station and closest to the city centre, with 20 platforms and facilities including shops, cafés, and a left-luggage office. Porta Susa, the second most important station with nine platforms, opened in its current location in 2013 and is also on the metro line. Lingotto, the third major station with 13 platforms, is situated south of the centre near Eataly and serves trains from surrounding towns and regions.
Trams and Buses
Trams and buses form the backbone of Turin's local transport network, with tram line four serving the north of the city. The bus network is extensive and connects all major areas. Outside regular hours, night buses operate from Piazza Vittorio Veneto as a fan-out service.

Taxis and Ride-Hailing
Taxis are readily available throughout the city and at major transport hubs. Ride-hailing services including Enjoy and Share Now also operate in Turin, offering alternatives to traditional taxis.
Walking
Much of Turin's city centre is accessible on foot, with many cultural attractions, restaurants, and shops within walking distance of each other. The historic centre features numerous palaces, piazzas, and churches that are best explored by walking.
Getting from Turin Airport to the City
Turin Airport (TRN) is located 15 kilometres north of the city. Several transport options connect the airport to central Turin:
Bus Services
Arriva Bus 268 runs every 15–30 minutes from the airport to Caselle town and both Porta Susa and Porta Nuova railway stations, taking 40–55 minutes. Some buses extend to Lingotto. Tickets cost €8.00 for a single journey or €11 for a return (valid seven days). Machines and kiosks in the arrivals area sell tickets; if purchasing on board by bank card, you pay the same fare, but paying in cash incurs an extra €1 surcharge. If you have a Turin + Piemonte Card, the fare is €6.50. The service runs from 06:00 to 00:30 from the airport and 05:00 to 23:30 into the airport.
Flibco operates a competing bus service running every 30 minutes from 03:30 to 23:00, taking 25 minutes from the airport via Caselle to Corso Vittorio Emanuele II outside Porta Susa station. Tickets cost €7.50 each way or €11 return, purchased online, at the airport ticket office, or from the driver (with a small surcharge for on-board purchase).
Train Service
Caselle Aeroporto railway station is located beneath the airport terminal. It is served by the Trenitalia Torino-Ceres railway line, providing direct connections to Torino Porta Susa (for intercity and high-speed services) and Torino Lingotto. Trains run approximately every 30 minutes, with a journey time of about 19 minutes to Porta Susa. Single tickets cost €4.00 and can be purchased online, at ticket machines, or via the Trenitalia app.
Taxis
Taxis are available outside the terminal arrivals area. A fixed fare typically applies to the city centre (around €36–40 to Porta Nuova or Porta Susa stations); confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey. Radio taxi services are also available. Private car transfer services cost at least €100.
Car Hire and Ride-Hailing
Car hire desks operate in the arrivals area, though a car is not practical for the city itself. Ride-hailing services like Enjoy and Share Now operate at the airport with designated pick-up and drop-off points in the parking areas.
Alternative Airports
Milan Malpensa (MXP), Milan Linate (LIN), and Bergamo (BGY) are alternative airports for reaching Turin. Malpensa offers the best flight options and onward transport: the SADEM bus runs direct from Malpensa Terminals 1 and 2 to Turin Porta Susa hourly from 08:00 to 22:00 and at midnight, taking 2 hours for €22. Tickets are sold in Malpensa's arrivals hall or online.
