Getting Your Bearings
Kashipur is a town in Uttarakhand, India, and the practical transport picture is straightforward: there is no metro, no tram and no local rail network within the town itself. Visitors get around by auto-rickshaw, taxi and local bus, and reach the town from outside by train, bus or air via Pantnagar Airport.
Rail Connections
Kashipur Railway Station is the town's railhead and is well connected, serving many trains. If your plans don't line up with services into Kashipur, two nearby rail access points work as alternatives: Kathgodam and Haldwani. Both are reached from Kashipur by taxi or bus, so you can treat them as backup gateways rather than as part of a single seamless rail trip.
Buses and Other Public Transport
Local buses operate within Kashipur alongside auto-rickshaws and taxis, making buses the cheapest way to cover short hops around town. For longer journeys, bus services connect Kashipur with the surrounding region — including Haldwani, Nainital and Delhi — and there is a direct bus from Delhi if you are arriving overland from the capital. Buses are also an option for the onward leg from Pantnagar Airport and from the Kathgodam and Haldwani railheads.
Taxis and Ride-Hailing
Taxis are one of the main ways visitors move around Kashipur, and they are the most practical choice for point-to-point trips, for reaching the airport or an out-of-town railhead, and for journeys where you are carrying luggage. Auto-rickshaws fill the same short-trip role at lower cost.
Walking
Walking works for short errands and moving between nearby spots in town, but it is not a realistic way to cover the longer regional legs — the airport and the alternative railheads are all well beyond walking range and require a taxi or bus.
Arriving by Air
The nearest airport is Pantnagar Airport (PGH). From there, you continue to Kashipur by taxi or by bus. Because the airport sits some distance from town, it is worth deciding in advance whether you want a taxi for a direct, door-to-door transfer or a bus for a cheaper but less flexible onward leg.
