Getting your bearings
Hindaun is a city and municipality in Karauli district, in the eastern part of Rajasthan, sitting in the vicinity of the Aravalli Range. It is well connected by modernized roads to Jaipur, Agra, Alwar, Dholpur and Bharatpur, and the state capital Jaipur lies roughly 150 km away. For a visitor, the practical picture is simple: this is a small-city transport environment built around buses, shared autos and the railway, with no metro or tram system of any kind.
Rail
Hindaun City is a station on the New Delhi–Mumbai main line, which makes it the most useful long-distance anchor for arrivals and departures by train. Other railway stations close to the city are Shri Mahabirji, Fateh Singhpura and Sikroda Meena, so check carefully which station your ticket names before you set out. There is no metro or tram network in Hindaun; the railway is the only rail-based option.
Buses and other public transport
Buses are the backbone of getting in and out of Hindaun. Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) operates services from Hindaun Depot, and the published timetable lists two classes of bus: EXP (express) and ORD (ordinary). Timetables show route number, origin, destination, via points, departure and arrival times, distance and bus type, so it is worth checking the board or asking at the depot before you commit to a route.
- Local and regional hops: Short ordinary services link Hindaun with nearby places such as Karauli (via Failikapura), Kaila Devi (via Karauli), Mahaveerji (Kheda), Bayana and Suroth, and Todabheem, Mahwa and Gangapur via their respective routes. These are the services to use for day trips to nearby temples and sights.
- Longer connections: Express services run to Jaipur (some via Mahwa, Todabheem, Bajeerpur or Balghat), Alwar (via Mandawar), Bharatpur (via Bayana), and further afield to Delhi (via Mathura or via Alwar), Pushkar and Dhaulpur.
- Timing: Departures from Hindaun begin early in the morning (around 04:15) and continue through the late morning in the published pages, so plan morning travel rather than assuming all-day frequency.
- Within the city: Shared autos operate between the roadways bus stand and the railway station, which is the simplest way to link the two main arrival points. People also use buses and auto-rickshaws to reach nearby places.
Taxis and ride-hailing
The documented options for local movement are shared autos, auto-rickshaws and buses. For practical purposes, arrange your onward ride at the bus stand or railway station and confirm the fare before setting off.
Walking
Hindaun is a compact city and municipality, and many of its attractions — the Narsinghji Temple, Radha-Raman Ji Temple, Shri Hardev Ji Temple and Nakkash Ki Devi – Gomti Dham with its adjacent Jalsen pond — lie within the city itself, which makes walking between central sights reasonable.
Getting in from the airport
The nearest major airport is Jaipur International Airport, about 160 km from the city centre. It offers sporadic service to major domestic and international locations, and the source describes it as connecting Hindaun globally to cities such as New York, Paris, Melbourne and London. From the airport, the practical route into Hindaun is overland to Jaipur and then an RSRTC express bus to Hindaun, or a train from Jaipur onward to Hindaun City station on the New Delhi–Mumbai line. Because airport service is sporadic, confirm your flight connections and allow generous time for the road or rail leg.
