How Bhiwadi Fits Together

Bhiwadi is a planned industrial city in Rajasthan's Khairthal-Tijara district, sitting right on the Rajasthan-Haryana border and forming part of the National Capital Region of Delhi. For a visitor, the most useful thing to understand up front is that the city is divided into three separate zones — residential, industrial and commercial — so your day will likely involve moving between distinct pockets rather than wandering one continuous downtown. The city sits on the Delhi-Jaipur corridor and is within easy reach of Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad and Alwar, which shapes both how you arrive and how you get around once you're here.

Getting Around the City

Bhiwadi is generally car-dependent. There is no comprehensive public transport network and no metro system operating in the city, so visitors should plan on a mix of buses, auto-rickshaws and hired cars rather than expecting a dense, frequent transit grid. Public transport options that do exist are best described as time-consuming and less reliable for hassle-free commuting, so build slack into your schedule if you're relying on them.

Rail, Metro and Tram

Bhiwadi has no railway station of its own. The nearest railway station is Rewari Junction, about 26 km south of the city, which is the practical railhead for arriving or departing by train. There is no tram network. A metro line running from Delhi to Alwar via Bhiwadi is in development, but it is not yet operational — so for now, don't plan any part of your trip around metro service in the city.

Buses and Other Public Transport

Buses and auto-rickshaws together form the backbone of local public transport. Because there is no comprehensive network, routes and frequencies won't cover every trip you want to make, and connections between the city's separate zones can be slow. Auto-rickshaws fill many of the gaps and are useful for shorter, direct journeys. If your plans are time-sensitive, it's worth arranging a car or ride-hail instead of depending on the bus.

Taxis and Ride-Hailing

For visitors, taxis and ride-hailing apps are the most dependable way to move around Bhiwadi, especially given the city's car-dependent layout and the distances between its residential, industrial and commercial zones. They're also the sensible choice for reaching Rewari Junction for onward rail travel, or for the highway connections toward Delhi, Gurgaon and the airport.

Walkability

Walking is a mixed proposition. Sidewalks are not consistently available, which makes getting around on foot challenging in many parts of the city. Some areas are manageable on foot and some conveniences may be nearby, so if your hotel is close to where you need to be, walking can work for short trips. For anything longer, or for crossing between zones, plan on a vehicle.

Getting In from the Airport

The nearest airport is Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, about 55 km north of Bhiwadi. The most straightforward approach is by road: Bhiwadi can be reached via National Highway NH48, the Delhi-Jaipur highway, through Dharuhera. From the airport, expect roughly 70 to 90 minutes by car, depending on traffic. An alternative road route runs via the Gurgaon-Sohna-Tauru-Dharuhera road. A pre-booked taxi or ride-hail from the airport is the simplest option for a visitor with luggage; there is no rail or metro link from the airport to Bhiwadi, and the planned Delhi-Alwar metro via Bhiwadi is not yet running.
