Understanding Longgang

"Longgang" is a name shared by several places in China, but for most visitors it refers to Longgang District in Shenzhen, Guangdong. This guide covers getting around that Longgang — the district centred on Longgang Town and the Longgang Avenue area — and the practical transport options you can use once you are there.

Getting Oriented

Longgang Town sits in Shenzhen, and the local transport network is built around a handful of hubs. The most useful anchor for a visitor is Shuanglong Metro Station, which serves the Longgang Town centre area and acts as a meeting point for metro and bus services. Longgang Avenue is the main corridor through the area, and several bus stops and terminals cluster along and near it.

Metro

Shenzhen Metro is the backbone of movement in and around Longgang. Shuanglong station, on Line 3, is the nearest metro station to the Longgang Town centre. From the station you can walk to the central area, though be prepared for a substantial walk — the station is roughly a twenty-five minute walk from some central addresses such as the Bank of China Longxing Branch.

Metro service runs from early morning until late at night: the first trains stop at Shuanglong around 6:18 AM and the last around 12:20 AM. If you plan a late evening out, check the last-train time for your return journey rather than assuming services continue.

Buses and Coaches

Buses fill in the gaps the metro does not reach, and Longgang has a dense local network plus longer-distance connections. Several bus stops serve the town centre and Longgang Avenue area, including Longdong Community, Manjinghua Terminal, Longgang Long-Distance Bus Station, and Longgang Post Office, along with multiple stops at Shuanglong Metro Station itself. Walking times between these stops and the centre range from around ten to nearly thirty minutes, so pick the stop closest to your destination.

Local routes are numbered and typically run between residential areas, industrial parks, and transport terminals. Examples serving the area include routes 810, 818, and M275, which use Longgang Bus Terminal as a major local terminus, and routes such as 351, 365, 366, 651, 811, 812, 862, 380A, B669, M230, M266, M304, M308, M386, and M497, which link the area to places like Kengzi, Pingdi, Dapeng, Meilin Checkpoint, and various terminals. Some routes are short shuttles connecting the metro station to nearby destinations.

For longer journeys, Longgang Long-Distance Bus Station handles coach services out of the area, and Longgang Bus Terminal is a key local hub. Useful long-distance connections include E21, which runs to Shenzhen Airport's new terminal; E7, which connects to Shenzhen North Railway Station; and 366, which serves Huanggang Port, a border crossing to Hong Kong. If you are heading to the airport or to the high-speed rail station, these routes are worth noting.

Bus service hours are broad. The earliest buses start around 5:32 AM (route 651) and the latest run until roughly 12:27 AM (route E7), so early and late travel is possible on some routes. Fares are not listed on the reference information, so use a transit app such as Moovit to check prices and live timings.

Taxis and Ride-Hailing

The reference material does not describe taxi or ride-hailing services in Longgang. As a general rule in Chinese cities, metered taxis and app-based ride-hailing are widely available, but you should confirm availability locally and expect to use a Chinese-language app or a translation tool to communicate your destination.

Walkability

Walking is practical for short trips within the town centre, but distances to key transport points are not trivial. From the central area, Shuanglong Metro Station is around a twenty-five minute walk, and bus stops range from roughly twelve to twenty-seven minutes on foot. Comfortable shoes and a willingness to walk are useful, but for anything beyond the immediate centre, plan to use the metro or a bus.

Getting from the Airport into the City

Shenzhen Airport's new terminal is connected to the Longgang area by bus route E21, which runs between the airport and this part of the city. This is a direct public transport option if you are arriving by air and heading to Longgang. Alternatively, you can use the metro network to reach Shuanglong and the surrounding area, though the reference material does not detail a specific airport metro route, so check connections in a transit app before you travel.
