Getting Around Pu'er
Pu'er is a prefecture-level city in Yunnan, China, and its public transport is best described as simple rather than extensive. It is not as developed as what you would find in a major Chinese metropolis, but for everyday travel and sightseeing it covers the basics. Rail
Pu'er Railway Station sits on the Kunming–Mohan Expressway in Simao District and is the city's rail gateway. Note that Pu'er has no direct high-speed rail service: passengers travelling from further afield generally have to transfer via Kunming. From Kunming, trains take roughly two and a half to three and a half hours to reach Pu'er, and from Jinghong the journey is only about forty to fifty minutes. The station also has regular trains to surrounding cities.
To get between the station and the city, bus nos. 3 and K1 are the main connecting routes. There are also special tourist buses running between the station and several of the city's major tourist attractions, which is worth knowing if you are arriving by train and heading straight to a sight.
Buses and Other Public Transport
Pu'er has a number of urban bus lines covering the main commercial and residential areas as well as some tourist attractions. Fares are cheap, which makes buses a good choice for short trips around the city.

This is a good alternative for anyone who would rather not drive themselves to outlying sights.
Getting from the Airport into the City
Pu'er Simao Airport is located on Siting Road in Simao District (telephone +86 879 2153017). It is a small airport with only a few flights per week; as of October 2022, flights were available only from Changsha, Chengdu, Kunming and Mangshi. The airport sits approximately three kilometres northeast of the city centre, and it can be easily reached by taxi or by airport bus — both straightforward options for the short hop into town.
