Chifeng is a prefecture-level city in southeastern Inner Mongolia, and its built-up core is made up of the Hongshan and Songshan urban districts. Yuanbaoshan district functions as a de facto separate town some distance from the core, and a large part of Songshan district is still rural, so it helps to think of the city as a compact urban centre surrounded by a much larger administrative hinterland. Getting Around the City

Rail

Taxis and Ride-Hailing
Taxis are a straightforward option for getting around Chifeng, particularly for trips between the two railway stations, the bus station, and the central districts. Ride-hailing apps work in the city as well and can be useful if you do not speak Chinese, since you can enter your destination in the app. For the longer run out to Yuanbaoshan, which is not contiguous with the core districts, a taxi or ride-hailing car is the most practical choice.
Walking
The central districts of Hongshan and Songshan are walkable for short trips, and the climate is generally sunny, so daytime walking is pleasant for much of the year. Be aware that winters are long, cold, windy, and dry, while summers are hot and humid, with most of the year's rain falling in July and August. Dress and plan accordingly if you intend to cover much ground on foot.
