Getting Around Qianjiang

Qianjiang is a district of Chongqing in southwest China, and its transport network is built around a compact downtown core that is well served by local buses, with rail connections for longer journeys and an airport linking the area to several major cities. The guidance below covers the practical options a visitor is most likely to use.

Arriving by Rail

Qianjiang Railway Station sits near Qianzhou Avenue in Zhengyang Town. The station was completed in 2024, and the new station building serving the Chongqing–Qianjiang section of the Chongqing–Hunan high-speed railway came into use shortly afterwards. For a visitor, this means Qianjiang is reachable by high-speed rail from Chongqing and onward along that corridor, with the station acting as the main rail gateway to the district.

Arriving by Long-Distance Bus

Qianjiang South Bus Station is located at No. 67, Shicheng Road. It is easy to reach on local buses — routes 101, 102, 103, 106, 108, 111, 112 and 503 all stop at the Bus South Station stop, from which the station is a short walk of about a minute. The station operates from 10:00 to 20:40 and can be contacted on +86 23-79232658.

Getting Around by Bus

Buses are the main way to move around Qianjiang. Almost all of the downtown area has bus stops, and you can take a bus to the railway station, the airport, and the downtown shopping mall. Most buses run from 6:00 to 22:00. One important exception for arrivals: the last bus from the airport into the city leaves at 19:30, so plan your arrival accordingly if you intend to rely on public transport.

Taxis and Ride-Hailing

As a general rule for a city of this kind in China, taxis and app-based ride-hailing are widely available for short trips around the downtown area and for reaching the railway station or airport when buses have stopped running for the day.

Walking

The downtown area is compact and served by bus stops throughout, which makes walking a practical option for short trips within the centre, particularly around the shopping district. For longer journeys — to the railway station, the airport, or the bus station — you will generally want to use a bus or a taxi.

Reaching the City from the Airport

Qianjiang Wulingshan Airport is on Airport Road in the town of Zhoubai. It has routes to Beijing, Guangzhou, Xi'an, and the main urban areas of Chongqing. The airport can be contacted on +86 23-79850777. To get into the city, local buses serve the airport, but note that the last bus from the airport to the city departs at 19:30 — if you land later than that, you will need to arrange a taxi or ride-hailing instead.
