Getting Around Dehui

Dehui, China

Orientation

Dehui is a county-level city in Jilin Province, Northeast China, administered by the prefecture-level city of Changchun. It sits in the middle of the Songliao Plain, roughly 80 kilometres north-northeast of central Changchun. For a visitor, the practical consequence is that Dehui is a satellite city within Changchun's orbit: most long-distance arrivals come through Changchun, and the most useful transport links are the ones connecting the two.

The city itself is divided into subdistricts, towns and townships, with the built-up urban core concentrated in the subdistricts. Away from that core, the surrounding area is largely rural, so expect transport options to thin out considerably once you leave the city centre.

Rail

Dehui is served by rail, and the city's high-speed railway station is a recognised stop on the intercity bus route that links Dehui with Changchun, which makes it a practical interchange point for onward travel. If you are arriving by train, the station area is where you can pick up road transport into the rest of the city.

There is no metro or tram network in Dehui. Rail here means conventional and high-speed mainline services rather than an urban transit system, so plan on covering local trips by road.

Buses and intercity coaches

The most useful service for visitors is the intercity express bus, Changchun Public Transport Line T369, which runs between Changchun Railway Station Qianwenzhoucheng in the south and Dehui Highway Passenger Station in the north. It connects Kuancheng District in Changchun with Dehui City and links two major transport hubs: Changchun Railway Station and Dehui West Railway Station.

Because the fare is flat and the route is short and direct, you can simply pay on boarding rather than hunting for a pass. The service is frequent enough to be treated as a turn-up-and-go option during its operating hours, and it is the natural choice if you are connecting between the two cities' railway stations.

Taxis and ride-hailing

The source material does not describe Dehui's taxi or ride-hailing market in detail. In practice, taxis and app-based ride-hailing are the standard way to cover short local trips in a city of this size, and they are the sensible fallback for reaching the highway passenger station, the railway stations, or addresses away from the bus route. Agree on the fare or confirm the meter before setting off, and have your destination written in Chinese, since English is not widely used by drivers.

Walkability

Dehui's urban core is compact and centred on its subdistricts, so walking is a reasonable way to cover short distances within the city centre, including around the main streets and squares. Outside that core, the city spreads into towns and townships with a rural hinterland, and distances quickly become too great to walk. Treat walking as a city-centre option only, and plan on a bus or taxi for anything beyond it.

Getting there from the airport

Dehui has no commercial airport of its own. The nearest major air gateway is Changchun, and the practical route into Dehui is to reach Changchun first and then continue by the intercity express bus.

If your flight lands outside the bus operating hours, you will need to overnight in Changchun and take the first departure the following morning, or arrange a taxi or ride-hailing transfer for the whole journey.
