Getting Around Itatiba
Itatiba sits in the state of São Paulo, roughly 80 km from the city of São Paulo and part of the Metropolitan Region of Campinas. Its nickname, "Princess of the Hill," comes from its rugged terrain, which is worth keeping in mind when planning how you'll move around. The city is compact enough that a mix of local buses, taxis or ride-hailing, and your own two feet will cover most visitor needs.
Local Buses
Urban bus service within Itatiba is provided by Transporte Coletivo de Itatiba (TCI). This is the operator to look for if you want to travel between neighborhoods or reach parts of town that are too far to walk comfortably, particularly given the hilly landscape.
- TCI is the local bus company serving the city.
- Local buses are the main form of public transport for getting around Itatiba itself.
Intercity Buses
Itatiba is reasonably well connected to surrounding cities by intercity bus, which is useful both for day trips and for arriving from elsewhere in the region. The main arrival and departure point is the Central Bus Station (Rodoviária) on R. Domingos Preti 225; the city has a second bus station as well.
Two companies serve Itatiba: Rápido Fênix and Viação Cometa. Rápido Fênix handles most of the regional routes, while Viação Cometa appears on some longer-distance services.
- Direct regional routes into Itatiba's Central Bus Station include Morungaba, Jundiaí, Campinas, Bragança Paulista, and São Paulo (Tietê Bus Station), mostly operated by Rápido Fênix.
- Longer-distance routes include São Vicente, Santos, Mongaguá, and Praia Grande, served by Rápido Fênix and/or Viação Cometa.
- Nearby cities also reachable by bus include Osasco, Diadema, and Limeira.
- Airport shuttles connect to Congonhas–São Paulo Airport.
Onboard amenities vary by operator, but air conditioning, power sockets, and Wi-Fi are common. Hand luggage and checked luggage are often included, while snacks and drinks may cost extra. Booking three to seven days in advance is typical, and prices tend to be lower the earlier you book.

Rail, Metro, and Trams
Itatiba has no rail, metro, or tram network of its own. Visitors should plan on buses, taxis, ride-hailing, or carpooling rather than trains for getting around the city and the surrounding region.
Walking
Because Itatiba is known for its rugged, hilly terrain, walking is best suited to shorter trips within a neighborhood or the center rather than as a way to cross the whole city. Expect some inclines if you're on foot.
