If you want to leave the city entirely without leaving the region, take the City Island Express Bus from Davao City to Samal Island and arrange a pickup at the Peñaplata Warehouse Club bus stop. Samal Bahay Kubo in Barangay Katagman, Purok 5 in the Peñaplata District, offers huts and the option to pitch a tent from ₱200 per night—no in-suite toilets, but running water and clean facilities.
