Walk through the glass doors of this chisel-shaped hothouse in the city centre and immediately leave the Welsh climate behind. Plantasia offers an immersive escape where you can wander through distinct environments, from the humid atmosphere of a tropical rainforest to the dry conditions of an arid zone.

This expansive collection features over 5,000 plants, including towering palms, giant bamboo, and various fruiting plants like limes. The botanical diversity is vast, featuring over 600 different species such as bromeliads, orchids, aroids, and a curated selection of cacti and succulents in the arid section. It is a place where nature takes center stage, providing a vibrant backdrop for exploring both flora and fauna.

Wildlife Encounters and Exotic Landscapes

In the arid zones, you can observe Spectacled caimans and critically endangered Kleinmann's tortoises. Recent additions to the grounds include more specific habitats like a waterfall lookout, a rainforest hut, a living bridge, and interactive educational exhibits.

A specialized area titled 'Vital Venoms and Practical Poisons' highlights the roles that both plants and animals play in medical developments, featuring Oriental fire-bellied toads, Checkered garter snakes, and a Mangrove snake.
