Head to Salak Sunset Cafe, perched just 100 metres from the Botanical Garden's edge, where an expat-owned spot serves cold Bintang and freshly cooked peanuts while you watch the mountain darken. A tall beer costs around Rp.28,000. The view alone draws people back.
If you want something with more edge, Chiers Sportscafe (also called Harly's) on Jalan Dadali pulls a Dutch-pub atmosphere complete with bitterballen and Heineken. It opens at 16:00 and stays open until 03:00 daily, serving proper food—try the Schoarma Schotel—alongside the beer and bar snacks. The angkot 07 will drop you at the door.
Dancing and Karaoke Until the Small Hours
For a night that stretches into the early morning, Bogor's club scene clusters around central streets and operates late. X-One Club Lounge & Music Center on Jalan Siliwangi opens at 09:00 and doesn't close until 04:00; Wednesday, Friday and Saturday draw crowds of a couple hundred onto the dance floor. Entry is Rp.50,000 and includes a free Coke—the space is smoky and loud, with air conditioners placed every two metres fighting to cool things down. Billiards occupy the downstairs. Take the green and orange angkot 02.
Bali Blitz on Veteran Street works differently: it's a vertical venue spread across three floors. The ground level has a cafe; the second floor holds karaoke rooms; the third floor is a full bar with dance floor, private sections, and a DJ booth. It runs 24/7, serving Asian and Indonesian food with spicy edges. The walk from Bogor train station towards Jembatan Merah takes about 10 minutes.
Lipss Karaoke Bar and Club on Jalan Sukasari 1 stays open from 21:00 to 16:00 the next day, offering dancing, drinking, billiards and karaoke in separate areas. Entry is negotiable—officially from Rp.50,000 upward, though asking can bring the price down from the pricey table packages. Take angkot 02 to Dunkin Donuts and walk down the hill.
Quieter Nights: Cafes and Hotel Bars
Not every evening needs volume. Mahoni Bar sits in the Novotel resort as a pagoda-style spot open 09:00 to midnight daily, with happy hour 18:00–20:00 (buy one get one). Weekend nights bring live music from 21:00 to 23:59, and there's a free billiard table. The bar is often quiet and friendly. A taxi is easiest for reaching it.
Katulampa Lounge Bar operates inside the Aston Hotel and Resort from 08:00 to 22:00 daily, offering scenic modern seating and the polish of a premier hotel—which also means higher prices. Getting there requires angkot 02 or 14 to the BNR entrance, then an ojek to the Aston, as public transport doesn't serve the Bogor Nirwana Residence directly.
When Alcohol Fits the Culture
Larger supermarkets, bars, bistros and specialty beer stores stock beer and spirits—convenience stores like Indomaret, Alfamart and Circle K do not. Drinking beer openly in public draws side eyes and is culturally frowned upon, though people generally say nothing. Inside a bar or cafe, it's unremarkable.

Bogor celebrates Maulid Nabi Muhammad (the Prophet Muhammad's birthday) in August, which shapes the feel of the city during that period. Christmas Day falls in December, as does New Year's Eve—both nights draw people out. The city's frequent rain showers persist even during the dry season, so evening venues offer shelter and reason to linger.
