Thot Not

Introduction

Thốt Nốt sits in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam, part of the city of Cần Thơ. It is a former urban district, bordered to the south and west by Vĩnh Thạnh district and An Giang province, and to the north by Đồng Tháp province.

Getting around

Thốt Nốt is a delta town rather than a major metropolis, so getting around is dominated by road transport. The main public option connecting the area with the rest of Cần Thơ is the local bus network, and the most useful route for visitors is CT-01, which links Cai Rang Ward with Thot Not Ward. It is a long cross-city route run by Phuong Trang Passenger Transport, better known as FUTA Bus Lines. Buses are air-conditioned, offer Wi-Fi, have priority seating for people with disabilities, and run roughly every half hour, so you can travel spontaneously without a fixed timetable in hand. Services start early in the morning and finish in the late afternoon, so plan your day around a daytime service rather than expecting late-night buses. Fares are distance-based, with tickets printed automatically by POS machines; children under six and people with severe disabilities travel free. Tell the conductor or ticket staff your destination when you board so you are charged correctly, and carry small change or a suitable payment method.

There is no rail, metro or tram network serving Thốt Nốt, so do not plan your trip around catching a train or metro in or out of the area. Walking suits short hops within a single ward or neighbourhood; for longer journeys between wards or into wider Cần Thơ, take the bus or a road vehicle instead. If you are arriving from the Cần Thơ side, the CT-01 route is the documented public transport connection toward Thốt Nốt, while the airport leg itself is best arranged by taxi or ride-hailing car with the fare or app price confirmed before you set off. For service updates, check the "Cantho Bus" Fanpage.

Three days in Thot Not

Day one: Base yourself in Thốt Not and get your bearings on foot. As in much of the Mekong Delta, walking is a good way to get a feel for the place, though you may want to use taxis for longer hops. If you arrive by bus, services such as Phuong Trang Passenger Transport and FUTA Bus Lines connect the area, and Cantho Bus has a Fanpage you can check for schedules. Fares are best confirmed locally, and POS services can help with payments.

Day two: Head into Cần Thơ and spend time around Cai Rang Ward, where the floating market is the main draw. Buses and taxis are the practical ways to move between Thốt Not Ward and the city. Wi-Fi is widely available, so you can plan as you go.

Day three: Look beyond the city towards Vĩnh Thạnh and the wider An Giang province, both within reach for a day out. Tell your driver your plans in advance, and keep fares in cash as a backup in case POS services are unavailable. There is plenty to see across the delta, so pace yourself.
